The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) is undertaking an important water and sewer improvement project on NW 42 Avenue from East 57 Street to NW 128 Street. Work began in October 2025 and is expected to continue through July 2026. During this period, residents and motorists may experience temporary traffic constraints, including lane closures, detours, and delays. We apologize for any inconvenience and ask for your patience and cooperation as crews work to improve our community’s water and sewer infrastructure. Please follow all posted signage and exercise caution in the work zones.

The City of Opa-locka Parks & Recreation is excited to announce new park hours, bringing new adventures for our community! Beginning February 2, 2026, residents can enjoy city parks Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. These updated hours are designed to give families, children, and residents more time to play, relax, and stay active in our beautiful parks. We invite everyone to come out, enjoy the playgrounds, and make the most of these extended opportunities for fun and recreation. 🌳🎉

Sidewalk construction is underway in the City of Opa-locka, with new sidewalk sections clearly marked in red on the provided map. Construction on affected streets is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 2, 2026, and sidewalks will be installed along the property line. As part of the project, trees located within the public right of way may be trimmed or removed by the Public Works Department if necessary. Residents should be aware that driveway access may be temporarily restricted once construction reaches their property, but the contractor will provide at least 24 hours’ notice before any work that impacts access. If a driveway is affected, residents are allowed to park on the street or outside the construction zone, and no parking tickets will be issued during this time.
